They want a man and love and stars
And anything to dull that ache —
Inside the hollows of their hearts
That echo with further break.
They want a hug and kiss and comfort
To whisper to their despair
That scabs and scars
However hurtful will one day clear and heal.
They want a hope and dream and goal
To show them what’s now stands incomplete
A full moon needs to wax and wait
To render a dark night obsolete.
They want what every human deserves
A man and love and stars
To resew the hollows of their heart
And show them who they truly are.

The Sound That Carries Me
When I lie in bed, the train always finds me. The wheels slam against the tracks, loud and unforgiving, like something inside me that never learned how to rest. The horn cuts through the dark in broken intervals. Too close, too real, impossible to ignore. It drags me back to the fields of my childhood. Back when I thought life was simple. It wasn't. I just didn't have the language for how heavy it already felt. I was small, trying to survive things I didn't know how to name yet.
