There isn't enough
of me somedays
to twiddle away time
or settle for a meager life
for I treasure what time
I have left.
Days are calculated
broken into smaller chores
a minor toil today
adds up whole in the end.
Life hands me a coloring page
black and white
bland and bleak
Lines that define
illusions of the real world
etched in black against the stark white.
There isn't enough
color to hold my attention
yet, the lure of me time,
stroked the mischievous child within.
Their isn't enough
time for my little me to stop and play.
My mouse clicked and fingers thumped keys
as I pondered my stack of work
as my eyes drifted to the craft corner.
There isn't enough
time to play than
there is no time to answer the phone
there isn't anything new to hear
I need to work now
So I and my little can play
and splash colors
across the page.
There simply isn't time to talk today.
There isn't enough
results for the time given
or taken from playing
with crayons, markers or color pencil.
The work pile still rages
as the clock's hands races.
I simply
can't do
enough
some days.
There isn't enough
time to beat
Paper Stack Mountain today.
So, maybe a break
of five, ten, twenty or more minutes.
with a moment to
be me and just do something
not significant nor important.
Just one day
to frittle some time
away to play?
There isn't enough
of me somedays
to twiddle away time
or settle for a meager life
for I treasure what time
I have left.
Days are calculated
broken into smaller chores
a minor toil today
adds up whole in the end.
As long as I make time to play.

Yes. I can relate! Time to play! 😊💗💕
Oh, goodness, I can feel the longing in this and it resonates. I hope you get some time to play today, Sheila. 💜
I've been yearning to dive into my crafts as of late, but just like you have a hard time finding time to play. Perhaps it's time to take a break and stitch for a bit and let the work take care of itself.
