There Is No Prize to Perfection
Only an End to Pursuit
I sought perfection
soul protection
unconditional affection
without continual genuflection
or subjection
sweet confection
to my recollection
such interconnection
required introspection.
_
So I thought on perfection
explored advection
without soul connection
found it a projection
boomeranged to flexion
exploring the cross-section
of suitors and erection
resigned to my rejection
when my own imperfection
would require redirection
avoiding retrospection.
_
The hunt for perfection
speaks with whisper not brass section
peace conveyed within inflection
seeks the real rejects deception
accepts new midst preconception
learns of true hones perception
steady course not overcorrection
knows when circumspection
softens explosive objection
requires mental disinfection
to rid toxic misdirection
accepts further recollection
when to stop and allow self-resurrection
when to proceed with intellection
Perfection.
End.

hi jk#1 - Such a perfect erection of perfection. jk#2
Is there really such a thing as 'perfection'? Loved the use of all the vocabulary and the rhyming. Great job.
A selection for detection and the circumvention of perfection!
Your rhymes came close to perfection, loved it. Great writing and a great reminder.👏👏🌟
This was stunning. Judey! And something I am learning to try and live by. Perfection, escpecially in writing or life in general is a falsity. Striving for it is good in small measures, but will always lead to dissapointment in my experience. Loved the rhythm and rhyme of this, such great flow and sticking to such a tight rhyme scheme never felt dull. It just grew and grew and was full of truth and insight that could only come from experience. All this to say, well done on a bloody great poem, Ms Kalchik!
