There Is A Beast

An Original Poem

There is a beast

That resides in my head

He remains dormant

Until he needs fed

----

When he awakens

He does swiftly pounce

Upon my body

Every single ounce

----

All he knows is destruction

All he does is attack

But with all my soul

I fight him back

----

I must keep him at bay

Keep him in check

Show him who's in control

So my being he does not wreck

----

Then he rests once again

The battle done for the day

But I cannot ease up

Least he get his way

----

This fight will resume

Until we both cease to be

But I make it known

He shall never overcome me
