Then And Now
A Poem

Sitting on the couch,
Sipping a cup of coffee,
The sunlight streaming in from the windows.
***
Thinking about the simple times,
Us lying in bed and watching movies,
The possibilities endless.
***
Now things are messy,
More people, more heartache,
Never able to fully rest.
***
Drowning in responsibilities,
Never able to catch up,
Always planning the next task.
***
Wanting to return to those times,
Knowing it will never happen again,
No matter how hard we try.
