Their Thing

Misfit

Being there with them, it was odd,

No one seemed to notice if I was or wasn’t there.

They all had their thing, whether it was makeup or fashion,

I prefer books and games and things.

When they would ask me to hang out,

It felt like a courtesy rather than a genuine interest.

I was there almost every time,

But they wanted to talk about boys and things.

There I was minding my own business,

There they were having fun.

I’m not really into parties,

That was more their thing.

I wasn’t really sure what to do,

Standing in the corner seemed the best option,

But they didn’t like me being alone,

I don’t think socializing is my thing.

They like to dance and sing and party,

With others that I don’t know,

Crowds can be exhausting,

Not quite my thing.

It doesn’t matter if I know you or not,

I’m not a huge fan of interacting,

They loved being the center of attention,

It wasn’t all that bad of a thing.

Not sure where they got the idea,

That I would enjoy going to the mall,

But they asked and I let them,

Take me to do their thing.
