The World Forgot Me for a Moment
"Sometimes peace isn't found—it's stumbled into, quietly, when no one’s watching."

I didn't intend to go that far
— just followed a sidewalk crack.
until the sound stopped.
No sirens. No footsteps.
Just the wind practicing something soft
through a line of crooked birch trees.
A crow made a head turn, appeared to be aware of a joke.
I didn't get invited to laugh.
There was a bench—
shattered, angled, still holding space like it mattered.
I sat without scrolling.
No camera.
No clever caption.
A leaf landed on my knee
and offered no remorse. The clouds passed without drama,
without meaning. As though they had nothing to show.
And for a few long,
breathable minutes,
the world forgot me.
Not in the lonely way—
in the most beautiful way,
where nothing requires your return.

A serene poem about finding peace in a quiet, forgotten moment with nature
This description of a simple moment is really captivating. It makes me think about those times when I've been in nature and just let everything around me soak in. Have you ever had a moment like this where the world seemed to forget you? It's a pretty amazing feeling. I like how you painted a picture with words. The details about the bench and the leaf on the knee made it feel so real. What inspired you to write about this particular experience? Was it a one-time thing or do you often find yourself in these peaceful spots?
