The Working Woman
For the women who just need a hugging.

Today,
she feels like a check.
Tomorrow,
she prays to be a mother.
Once the chaos has calmed down.
“Get back to work.
No discussions.”
And sadly,
there’s no running for cover.
At the same time,
she feels like a bill.
She hopes she can soon be a lover.
If she does overtime,
her house will be fine.
Husband tells everyone,
“there’s no one else
above her.”
But,
that’s not what she sees
deep inside.
She sees life’s demands
instead of her own
reflection.
She feels the
deep need
to be
everything
and then some.
The capitalistic dream
of perfection.
To the woman
who is standing by your side:
know that while she is strong,
she still needs a hugging.
To the teammate
who can do you no wrong:
know that she has her moments
where she feels you are bugging.
She did not always come here to be kind.
She does not wish to be disrespected.
Her hard work really does you no harm,
though it is nothing of what you expected.
Hear her out when she is speaking
-no discussions.
And listen is what she’ll do in return.
Ensure her that there is
no need to be perfect.
Remind her to
always be proud of
what she has
earned.
Mistakes are not tragedies,
but lessons.
She is so much more than her
profession.
She is a woman
whose story needs to be heard.
She is the greatest of all Man’s
creation.
