The word love

Be careful as to how you use it

By Beau GreenPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Love is more than just a word

It’s a feeling

But we use that word, love, like it's only a word

Like its nothing more than the four letters that make it a word

And not an intense and passionate feeling

It’s like an extra word we throw in our sentences

A word we throw in to give the illusion of eloquent feeling

I love dogs, and coffee, and plants, and that painting I saw last week,

But it doesn’t mean the same when I say that I love you

Because I really do love you

I love you with my entire soul

With my entire conscience

And I’d do anything to give you the world

But I wouldn’t give the world to dogs and coffee and plants and paintings,

Because it just doesn’t mean the same thing

Love is a delicate and tender word

A word that should be handled with the utmost of care

Not tossed around like some paltry filler word

So keep that in mind

The next time you decide to tell someone you love them

Make sure you really do love them

With your entire soul

And your entire conscious

Because it might hurt

When you find out

That it wasn’t really love.
