it starts when he’s young and he snatches a fly

right out of the air and he watches with pride

as he plucks off a wing and is shocked when it dies

his mother waves off the piles of flies

that litters their floors and will act all surprised

when boys will be boys turns her Jekyll to Hyde

he’ll grow old but not up and that need won’t subside

as he looks for new prey when he runs out of flies

and the danger he offers will one day collide

when he finds a young girl with life in her eyes

and all the world know he’ll be her demises

for he must take her wings to be satisfied

cause crimson glasses make all those roses look bright

and knights in shining armor aren’t just a disguise

for sick little boys who steals things from the sky

she covers the bruises and tells herself it will be alright

but what she doesn’t know is he’s already taken a life

when he so gleefully went about ripping wings off of flies
