The Whirlwind Mind

ADHD Symptoms and Treatments

The Whirlwind Mind

My thoughts are like a raging storm,

scattered, wild—never warm.

A task begun, but left undone,

another calls—I start to run.

Keys misplaced, a name forgot,

a deadline missed, a tangled plot.

Words slip through like grains of sand,

intentions lost to time’s demand.

The world says, focus, just sit still,

but my mind bends against my will.

It leaps, it spins, it craves the new,

then drowns in things I meant to do.

The guilt, the shame, the endless race,

the staring walls, the cluttered space.

Yet deep inside, a spark still glows,

a fire that endlessly overflows.

But hope exists in guiding hands—

a gentle map to understand.

A therapist who helps me see,

that I am more than my ADHD.

A dose of care, a structured plan,

a mindful breath, a helping hand.

Movement, rest, the foods I choose,

the coping skills I learn to use.

The meds, they clear the fog away,

and give me strength to face the day.

Routine and timers, notes in sight,

small anchors in my scattered flight.

I am not broken, lost, or weak—

just wired in a way unique.

With help and tools, I rise anew,

embracing all I’m meant to do.
