They thought that she was fire,

that she'd burn along with them,

if the kept feeding her embers,

stoking her every time hey noticed she'd get lonely,

or handing her more kindling,

every time she began to question

whey she didn't quite... fit... in.

She was born with a well spring

deep in her heart.

Too long it was hidden.

She kept it under guard

as the fire had taught her,

your purpose in life is to please,

be pretty,

be demure and not mind full.

Wear only Stepford approved shades

and tone all feelings into gradients of beige.

One day she glimpsed herself in the mirror

and heard her lineage cry out beside her

"YOU ARE NOT MADE OF FIRE!

You were made for more than a flicking, fickle, burning.

You are made of water.

You were made to rule with the moon,

with depth and breadth,

with the very power of life itself.

Fire, nor stone, is a match for you."

So brick by brick she chiseled down her guard

until everything filled

that they had told her was empty.

It overflowed

and found it's way

to pour into you.
