The weight of regret

A symphony of forgiveness

The echoes of yesterday, a haunting melody,

Each note a whispered "what if," a heart's cruel symphony.

Regret, a heavy cloak, draped over my soul,

A bitter taste of "should have," a story left untold.

But in the silence, a whisper, soft and low,

A gentle breeze of forgiveness, beginning to flow.

To release the chains of anger, the bitterness I hold,

To mend the broken bridges, let the past unfold.

Forgiveness, a fragile flower, blooming in the heart,

A delicate fragrance, a brand new start.

To forgive myself, to forgive the one who wronged,

To break free from the shackles, where my spirit has been thronged.

Wow Braine ! This piece captures it in a way that allows readers to reflect on their own experiences, and perhaps, in time, find a way to release some of that weight.
