The Weight of Dreams

Racing Against Odds in a World of Coins

By Nikita AngelPublished 8 months ago 1 min read
Dreams

We came from very ordinary places.

Lived in very ordinary places

Studied in very ordinary places

And ate in very ordinary places

When rich people took out big money

We had a few coins in our pockets.

We were not all the same.

But we were still in the race

Like a horse,

On someone's legs the weight of the hopes of an entire family was on him.

And that burden was so heavy that

A little more and more

We could break

They could break and scatter.

We had sleep to lose

And dreams to sell

There is nothing else

That can be put at stake.

We read books all night

And fight for dreams,

We could do much more.

But he died living up to the expectations of others.
