It starts as a flicker,
a pulse beneath the ribs
that I didn’t know I’d been waiting for.
Your hand finds mine
as if we’d rehearsed this all along,
though the script was lost ages ago.
The air hums,
not loud, but steady,
like the sound of something waking,
a memory maybe,
or a promise left unfinished.
Your eyes hold that impossible light,
the kind that makes my chest ache
and my breath betray me.
And suddenly, I’m not here
in this single moment anymore,
I’m in every touch we’ve ever shared,
every look that bent the air between us.
Then it shifts.
Not slowly,
but like a door swung open
to a room I didn’t know still existed.
All the missing pieces gather,
every laugh, every ache,
every quiet night we almost forgot to treasure.
And in that rush,
I realize,
it’s not just memory.
It’s us,
returning to ourselves
with nothing held back,
no corners left in shadow.
When your arms wrap around me,
it’s more than an embrace,
it’s the world agreeing
that some loves were never meant to fade.
