The sky met our gaze
With reassurance
The stars our comfort
Pointing the direction
We were meant to travel
Illuminating the trail
We had been searching for
Since opening our eyes,
Revealing hidden truths
Buried in the sand
That was swallowing us
While we rested our minds-
We dug deep
Forcing onwards
Towards the end
We could barely see,
But with the knowledge
That we would reach it
Before we drowned
Beneath the weight of
Growing mountains-
With the sky as our guide
We fought against coming storms
Reaching towards the goal
We had dreamt of for so long.
Our limbs had rooted,
To the ground where we waited,
We yanked,
Uplifting and leaving
Remnants behind
For us to be remembered by
In years to come,
Reminders of what happens
When you remain still for too long
With no growth
And no exertion,
A standing statue,
Barely sprouting-
Until the sky showed us the way.

How did I miss this one? The old adage 'Reach for the sky" works in many ways. Nice job helping folks look and feel!
