The Waiting Room

An Abecedarian Poem

By Phil TennantPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Accidents will happen,

Broken bones and such.

Check into the hospital,

Now here comes the crunch.

Emergency rooms are hectic,

Frantic with the sick.

Gallant Nurses trying to,

Heal double quick

Injuries and illness

Just wanting to be heard

Knowing there’s a wait ahead

Lining to be cured,

Many patients waiting,

No- one has a clue

Overdose or broken bone

Placed into a queue

Quoted wait times

Rarely manifest,

Such is the demand,

That these medics must face.

Under so much pressure

Very much aware,

Wheel them down the corridor,

X-rays show the bone.

Yes, it is a fracture

Zip a plaster on.

For Fun

Love the fact that you got this to rhyme. Great capturing of the hospital pressures too!
