The Voice

Inner girl

By Jennifer WarrenPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Deep in the night through the sunrise

Her thoughts haunted her soul

The little girl who wanted much more

Belittled by the one who was old

In spite of all she accomplished

The sheets felt heavy and wet

She lifted her head to the blinding sun

And gently released her breath

She talked to herself with a mother’s tone

Reminding of her past

"It’s ok to cry and to feel mad

But mostly you must smile and laugh

Don’t let the world know who you are

Don’t let them see your pain

It’s not ok, the mistakes you’ve made"

(The voice that haunts every day)

These were the days that went so slow

The days that held her down

But the little girl stood tall to that voice

Until one day, it was gone

Let the world know who you really are

Let them see your pain

The mistakes you’ve made are all ok

What matters is how you’ve changed

fact or fiction
