The View From My Two Left Feet

A Poem

I think im the family's black sheep

My generations sacrificial lamb

Because its just been

Uni

Career

Relationship

Engagement

Wedding

And Damn

What happened to me

Did I miss the memo or something

My life dances in a 2 step beat

2 steps forward

2 steps back

But all around me

They're dancing together

Moving forwards and upwards

Just one foot in front of the other

Did I get two left feet

Am I wearing the wrong shoes

Because it's just been

Up

And

Up

And

Up

And damn

What happened to me

I'm stuck on the same few stairs

Just one two three

Then turn round and repeat

But they've gone on and climbed mountains beyond me

Sent back photos of their view

But mine hasn't changed

Since my mind broke in two ways

I feel trapped in a machine

That's not fit for purpose

Whilst they're all driving by

In the latest new versions

And i wish I could end this

On some motivational note

Like how we all do things differently

And I'll get there, I know

But right now I just see the distance

Between me

And all of them

And it's a chasm
