The Vampire's Victim

@ Dennis A. Appell, 1991

I shiver in the night, nerves all wound...

Do you sense what I sense?

In the growing fog, all around?

Do you sense what I sense?

A force of will is growing on my mind...

It feels so deeply malign.

It's, oh, so deeply malign.

In the dark, I strain my eyes to peer...

Do you see what I see?

In the shrouded street very near...

Do you see what I see?

A form, so dark, is gath'ring in the gloom...

I feel this may be my doom.

Yes, this just may be my doom.

A death-white face with a wicked grin -

Do you fear what I fear?

From eyes lit all red within -

Do you fear what I fear?

His grip on me is, oh, so very tight

That I can't break free from his might.

I can't break free from his might.

Cold lips are on my neck; now the pain -

Do you feel what I feel?

Fangs sink deep into my veins -

Do you feel what I feel?

My blood, it flows, feeding him tonight

As I swoon in weakness and fright.

I swoon in weakness and fright.

Oh, victims out there unforewarned...

Do you know what I know?

After this night I am transformed...

Do you know what I know?

Undead secrets rest within my mind,

Because I'm one of their kind;

'Cause now I'm one of their kind.

[This was written as a Filk song to the traditional tune of "Do You Hear What I Hear?"]

[from the author]... This was written long, long ago - note copyright date! - and was supposed to be at the front of a series of filk songs honoring the "traditional monsters". [See also "werewolf's Lament"] I happened across these in my files recently. This is the first published appearance of these works, anywhere! I hope you enjoy!
