The Unintended Twins

A Poem

By Mother CombsPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

No one has understood me as well as you

Together since the age of four

Four months difference in our age

Completely different in looks

Yet always being mistaken for twins

Having you in my life

Meant that we never walked alone

Always having each other's back

Protecting the other from any monster attack

Laughing at the same dumb jokes

Jealous of anyone who distracted

Preferring each other's company

We could fight each other

But Lord forbid some fool to come in

And fight with one or the other

Sharing everything, from clothes to toys

Making up our games to play

Or just mixing ingredients for experiments

You were the older, always treating me like a baby

Taking care of me, even when I wanted to do things myself

One teaching the other to tie her shoes

While the other did the homework for two

Out of everything else, I’m glad our parents union brought me you

Loved the voice you've used to create a compelling character and how one's view of two shows us two similar but different halves

Beautiful, but… 4 months difference? Adoption?
