The Unfinished Hello

Miles stretch between us,

yet your voice crossed oceans first,

a call I missed—

but still, it found its place in me.

On Halloween, when shadows were heavy,

you appeared like light,

offering your number—

a gift no one else had given,

a small key that unlocked my heart.

I flew to you with hope in my chest,

but timing slipped,

and though we nearly met,

your apology wrapped me warm,

as if distance could never dull your care.

You always say, “That’s so sweet,”

when I send you little pieces of me—

but truly,

the sweetest thing

was how you made me feel seen

in a moment I thought I was invisible.

And so I carry you—

not yet met,

but already known,

as if fate is still unfolding

our unfinished hello.
