The Truest Version of Me

December 6,2024

By Cai FoxPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

I drown my pain with a shot or two,

Lost in a life where sorrow grew.

Confused and broken, I roam the night,

Seeking answers in the fading light.

My heart’s in pieces, shattered and torn,

How could you leave me this forlorn?

All I gave was love, raw and true,

And still, the darkness came into view.

I pleaded, I fought, I tried to stay,

But you pushed my light further away.

Now I’m standing, fragile, yet strong,

Trying to fix where it all went wrong.

The mirror reflects a shadowed face,

A soul that aches for a safer place.

But deep inside, where hope still burns,

A lesson grows with every turn.

For pain may cut, and tears may fall,

But they won’t keep me from standing tall.

The cracks they leave will let light in,

A chance to rise and start again.

Though storms rage on and hearts may break,

I’ll find the path I’m meant to take.

And when I do, you’ll finally see,

The strongest, truest version of me.
