The tree that never dies

Dedicated to those I've lost

I have your humor; I am quiet just like you

I put it all together, a puzzle piece by piece

I never want to, stir the waters blue

When I was born, you said “she looks like me”

And many of the things I do,

reflection in your eyes

I still remember

when you calmed me late at night

And the way you listened

And always passed out grace

Even in the silence

Kindness written on your face

The way you fight for

The meek and broken down

You hold on tightly

No one will take your crown

And I will carry on,

I will hold these tight

All the branches

That I’ve grow deep inside

The way they were

Those things will never die

From the roots, buried now

To the leaves that have to fly

From the roots... to the leaves - this is such a beautiful idea. Your poem made a bit sad thinking of my relatives that I lost, but it also filled me with so much love for them. I love your tree metaphor.
