The Tragedy of the Working-Class Siblings

I am sorry.

For not knowing you ate your lunch in the bathroom

For not knowing that they were calling you “Kim Jong-un”

For not knowing why you wanted a half-day schedule

For not knowing why you didn’t attend your own graduation

I am sorry.

That you gave up on leaving the house

That you gave up playing your favorite video games

That you gave up staying awake for the majority of the day

That you gave up on your education

I am sorry.

Am I surprised?

No.

Mom does not talk to her brother.

Dad does not talk to her sister.

And now I don’t talk to you.
