The Thought of You

Never Left

By Joe AkaguPublished 2 years ago 1 min read
The Thought of You

When I graced the earth, you knew I would come. You told Mother about my coming. She said you did. Are you a seer? You knew it was me who would visit right from my first kick in her belly, and you welcomed me with a smile

I had the hope that I would bring you the Stars when I tower towards the roof. It was a dream I had, a way to pay you back for welcoming me with a smile. You are in my dreams. The thought of you never died

At the peak of my battles with the universe, you left. That is a journey we all would make, a journey you didn’t make premature, but to me, you made so soon. Yes, it was too soon because I had not announced my victory to you

How could you have journeyed without dancing to my victories? How could you have left without seeing my dreams come true? Yes, you waited, yes, you tarried, I couldn’t win the war early, the universe had an upper hand everywhere

But your resilient spirit in me persevered and fought on, the thought of bringing home the trophy made me hang on, the thought of you made me win. But where are you now to welcome me with a smile? Even for one last time? The thought of you never left.
