The Thing About Being Introverted Is

This is a little rant about how introverts are always encouraged to be come out of their natural state rather than them being appreciated for their individuality. Growing up I was always told to put myself forward and not to be shy as if that was all I was 😂

The thing about being introverted is,

People assume that means:

moody,

shy,

lonely,

quiet

or maybe even reserved.

People assume that because you're calm and collected, that they can:

use,

consume,

pick you up and drop you,

then expect you not to utter a word.

The thing about being introverted is:

people assume that because you're not centre stage,

you don't want to shine or grind for that same limelight,

as though only extroverted people are entitled to that slice of the pie!

The thing about being introverted is,

soft spoken voices,

often speak to personal choices.

And just because I may not be the loudest,

I may not be the most recognised.

Doesn't mean: my worth,

my voice,

my power are not a noble prize.

The thing about being introverted is,

People insist you come out your shell,

as if this version of you is currently living in hell,l!

Always looking to change, mould or assist you into becoming this other variation without even proper consideration;

or sleep on you because they can't imagine that version of you,

they have yet to see in person!

The thing about being introverted is,

People see you as this cry for help,

failing,

to truly see,

the real you!
