The Thief Who Stole My Heart

A thief came silent in the night,

And stole my heart, my guiding light.

His name was Alan, cold as stone,

Who left me bleeding, all alone.

The snow fell soft, a silent veil,

As love poured out, a mournful tale.

He walked away, his steps so sure

I clutched a wound no time could cure.

Oh, Alan, thief with eyes of frost,

Do you feel the love you’ve lost?

Or does your shadow, dark and deep,

Mock the tears I’ve yet to weep?

In the snow, I stand my ground,

Though hollow echoes all around.

hearts may break, but they can mend—

And thieves like Alan meet their end.

I got pulled in by the red colour in the cover photo, did you draw that? The heart being someone’s guided light, really tells me a lot about how a persons world view can be tainted if the heart is not handled with care. Alan will never know, until he experience the same pain. ‘Oh, Alan, thief with eyes of frost’ this line makes me think of Alan as a cold hearted person, that even his eyes gives it away. I like that you used the season we are in, to lay out for us just how horrible Alan is. This line is truly breathtaking, it was unexpected which adds to its power, and the effectiveness of its blow ‘Or does your shadow, dark and deep, Mock the tears I’ve yet to weep? 👏🏽👌🏽🤗💖
