The Taste of Betrayal

Disgusting

The taste of betrayal, like bitter ash,

A once-sweet love, now sullied and dashed,

With wounded heart, I choke and gasp,

At memories of a bond that couldn't last.

Like wine turned sour, trust now decayed,

The flavor of deceit, so cruelly displayed,

A banquet laid waste, a venomous serenade,

Whispers of treason, forever replayed.

In quiet moments, I search for reprieve,

From the acrid sting of a love deceived,

Yet, through the heartache, a strength conceived,

Rising above, as new flavors weave.

Loved the rhyme scheme you used —as well as all the "flavors" betrayal took on here, a great take on the challenge prompt!
