The deception

You saw me across the room

No glance-no sudden show of emotion

Just a motion- a magnet drawing you to me

I catch my breath. A still burst of joy

You seemed not to notice the others

So natural, I felt so natural

And your comment- so subtle

So to the point of your intentions.

You laughed about the tan line on your finger. So all the girls would think you were married.

I smiled - turning my head to your attention.

You were not above a small white lie, to guard my welfare.

Honesty should only be promised to those who earn it. Vulnerability is not guaranteed.

At that point I would have done anything for you but asked if you would have done anything for me
