The Tale of the Hue-Muns

The Story of the Wiis

By Janeen ThompsonPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

Long Long ago

Before the world we know came to be

There were only two kinds of people,

The Yoos and the Miis

They lived on two separate parts of the earth

Spread out to tell them apart

And while they had much in common

Their difference was in their heart.

The Yoos had skin the color

Of a pretty pink flamingo

While the Miis skin was more like pennies

Copper with Bronze and Gold tones

The Yoos woke up every day

In a land where everything was set up to flourish

The Miis had their life set up too

And they made realities out of each wish

One day the Yoos looked upon the Miis

Upset that they were so strange

They decided they’d had enough

And that their whole world was going to change

The Yoos one day snuck into the land

And captured some of the Miis

They told them “The only way to survive

Is to choose the Yoo way to be.”

Some of the Miis agreed

Just so they could thrive

Others of them didn’t

And sadly those Miis didn’t survive

For years and years, the Miis worked for the Yoos

And the Yoos sat back and enjoyed being free

“Yoo do this, Yoo do that”, the Yoos hollered

While the Miis secretly thought, “But What’s wrong with Mii?”

They didn’t do much complaining

No those Miis wouldn’t dare make a peep

They worked long and hard

With little rest and barely any sleep

One day when the Miis were working

One of their own dreamed up a plan

She said “I’ve gotta get us out of here

To live life on a whole new land”

Many didn’t believe her

But that didn’t make her quit

She Prayed and dreamed

Walked on foot and one day she looked up and said, “This is it!”

She found a certain place

Where there was no Yoo or Mii

And although they were all kinds of colors

They all were known as “WII”

She stopped one man on the street

And said, “Hey sir what is this place?”

He looked at her sweetly and said,

“Why this is the land of the Hue-Mun Race!”

“Around here WIIS love each other

Regardless of the tone of the skin

Wiis don’t judge by the outside,

But Wiis choose to search for what’s within”

“Wiis come from all different places

And here there everyone is accepted

When one Wii hurts All Wiis hurt

And Wiis leave no one to feel neglected.”

“How can we get others to this place?" The little Mii asked,

"Is it as good as it seems?"

He replied, “My dear open your eyes and create it

Because right now it only exists in your dreams.”

Little Mii woke up

Not knowing what she had just seen

But now she was even more determined

To bring people to the place in her dream

And as the story says, that little Mii

Told others of what she saw

Her story passed down through generations

Fighting to make freedom law

Even now people are still fighting

To make the Hue-Mun Race a reality

Where everyone is appreciated

No matter the background or nationality

I pray one day that it will happen

I pray that one day everyone can see

The world isn’t made of just Yoos or Miis

But it’s made up of WII.
