The Sunflower

A Seed of Life

By Gigi GibsonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

A tiny seed, of its cocoon, breaks free;

From the womb of the dark earth, testify; Stretching thy spindly

neck in daylight see; Faces turning to heaven’s rays on high.

Lithe stalk bending in the sun, buds in wait; Fibonacci sequence patterns

swirling; For promiscuous bees to pollinate;

Vibrant yellow petals coil, unfurling. Time passes,

leaves brown and let go, heads bow; Winds blow, seeds

dance like butterflies in flight; O lithe stalk, bending downward disallow;

Your brightness gone, your beauty's lost delight.

A seed falls to the ground, and there tis lain,

A new cycle of life begins again.
