This is my response to the following prompt from Rick's Vocal + Assist fb group writing challenge: This time we will write a poem of at least 100 words.

The theme of the poem is Blood Pressure and use the word Beautiful and a word that rhymes with it in the poem.

——————————————————-

Driving well past the speed

On this hot July eve

Windows down

Being cooled by the breezes

*

There’s a chill in the air

None come close to compare

To the ones

up the back of my hair- line

*

Flashes of blue and of red

Have my blood pressure steadily

Rising higher than ever before

Clearing my throat, with my hands visible on the wheel - as she calmly approaches my door

*

I watch her in my mirror, as she heads my way

I’d never seen another woman so beautiful

In her blue button downs and polarized rays

Officially offering my citation so dutifully

*

Maybe if we had met on a cooler day

She would have noticed much more than my speed

But if this heat continues and speed catches her eye

She will be seeing a lot more of me

fact or fiction
