The Sun & the Rainbow

or, the day I found my tribe

By Steph ColePublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Bournemouth, the first town I ever saw celebrate Pride!

The rainbow flags fly over city streets

As I sit watching on my long bus ride,

And every colourful person I meet

Is loudly calling for something called "Pride!"

My short and sheltered life has been without

The slightest idea what this "Pride" could be,

But it's a sunny day, so I go out,

And find it everywhere surrounding me!

But as the day goes by I find myself

Feeling the strangest sense that I belong...

The sky is bright, it all feels right, and with their help,

I see I was just like them, all along.

And now on that same Sunny day, each year,

I wave my own flag, shouting, Pride is here!
