The stubborn little lantern that lights up my bloodstream

I have this little lantern inside me
That rocks and sways in the wind
I never expected its light
Its persistence
Its weight
But inside me it chooses to stay
I've begged it to leave
Bent it
Torn it
Broken off some edges that I'm still yet to fix
But the darkness doesn't kill it
Only glorifies its light
Now it travels every road I walk down
Is my constant companion through my loneliest night
Held aloft as a constant reminder
Of my ache for the day when I can just let it be
The stubborn little lantern that lights up my bloodstream

I like to play with words to escape reality. Or at least to try and make sense of it.
