The Strength Within

What We Needed Most Is What We Had All Along

I'm sinning so gravely because I am gay

My sexuality is the work of evil they say

But NO

Because I saw that evil in you're soul

A hardened and frightful heart

I trusted you and I thought you were true

Through you're fears it whispered

"You are not worth it, you are not strong."

Then when I came to realize my perfectly flawed human soul

You left me to pick up the pieces of a broken foundation

Not a clue where to start, for it frightened me so

It was my whole world

Without the fear, who am I?

I am the beggar - and the businessman

I search for meaning

Above all, I live and love

So they say I'm sinning so gravely because I am gay

But NO

For I saw that evil and it's corrupt ways through you

And yet, I forgive and I thank you

Without the struggle, I would not be my beautifully flawed self
