The Straw

mental anguish

It is the quiet before the storm

that truly frightens my mortal soul

To break the silence I speak words of love

As my heart weeps through this gaping hole.

~~~~~~~~~
My nature is one of kindness
With never intent to harm
I reach out to find love and peace
And rejection severs my arm
~~~~~~~~~

When at first you don't succeed

Fall to your knees and beg

But deaf ears indeed can not hear

And rejection severs my leg.

~~~~~~~~~~~
The Storm is gathering strength
destruction I feel is at bay
the crackling noise is maddening
the winds shredding the bales of hay
~~~~~~~~~~~~

My life is that which shreds

the bale of hay, all I hold dear

but it will take, just one small straw

to break my back I fear.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't believe I'm strong enough
To weather this emotional storm
There's too much loss right now
For this fragile human form.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Hope quickly dissipates

when there seems to be none in sight

But I still search for peace of mind

So I may find sleep tonight

heartbreak
