Blessed speech flows easy, obvious to the eyes of the lost.

Idolizing the chance to become the successor,

gazing at the opportunity to speak.

A dying voice screams loud, full of knowledge,

hoping, desperate to be heard.

Numb to right doings,

we complete many wrongs to feel safe—

finding common ground with our demons.

Until we understand we can never kill them,

only stand above,

knowing that if we’re touched by them,

we are going down instead of up.

As we ascend, demons vanish—

outgrown shadows of our past selves.
