The creator of a story
must be many things.
The botanist
and curator.
The hero,
the villain,
the archeologist,
and inventor.
Need be the expert
of diction.
The shipwright
in the storm;
who hears
the music
play
and affords
the Gods their due.
As Joseph Campbell
spins the circle—
all minds
in the Godhead
of one.
As Preacher
bring judgement
decide, life
or death giver;
bring the universe
to heel
as a physicist
with a bomb:
blow up
the tale
with a twist.
See such revels
that are ended.
Hit the final word
and be
the bereaved.
But above all
the teller is the holder
of the other,
their singer,
and from the word
does flow
the soul—
in blood
in myth
in morning dew.
