The sting of betrayal.

For when hope would yield its reward at the break of day,

The spurn of hatred, to then betray,

A sudden burst of malicious spite,

For those who claimed to be friends, despite.

The sting of death, the pain of treacherous intent,

Neither to reconcile, nor to repent,

The shadows of doubt and so much more,

To sound the drums, the call to war!

Mustered arms, gathered wits,

Armor suited and surely fits,

To overcome and wrestle well,

Those who in the shadows, dwell.

The sweetest taste, the essence, of a debt to soon avenge,

For justice to serve, and would not swerve,

The delectable gift, of revenge...
