The Space You Kept

In a memory

You are a breath of fresh air

in a hollow room

as the windows fog with

the laughter you once caused.

There's dust on the walls

and a scratch in the floor where

you moved your old bed

across the hardwood stained black.

I miss the sound

of your smile in the night

as you lay beside me and

shared your whole world.

How lucky was I

to hold and be held by you

here in this collapsing space

stale yet crisp

with dust fairies floating in your memory.
