I used to think the world revolved around my head,
That my thoughts stretched the sky,
That every glance was a whisper about me,
Every silence—a judgment,
Every laugh—a secret at my expense.
*
I moved like the center of gravity,
Convinced my missteps sent ripples through the earth,
That my fears were seen,
That my anxieties had an audience.
*
But then, one day, I stopped.
Sat in the hum of the city,
Watched lives tangle and untangle without me,
To observe…
To really notice…..the vastness of people around me.
And for the first time, I saw—
They weren’t looking at me.
They were like me,
Trapped in their own thoughts,
Fixated on what comes next.
*
And I realized—
Every mind is a world, spinning just like mine,
A private storm, a quiet longing,
A secret dance of hope and hesitation.
We are all moving parts of something bigger,
Little complexities, tiny threads in the grand weave,
Each one believing they are the knot
At the center of it all.
*
It is humbling.
It is freeing.
To know I am not the only one.
To step back and see
That I am not the sun,
But a single flicker in a sky full of lights.
*
It is freeing to step back
And realize the little space I occupy,
The many eyes that will never meet mine—
Family and strangers alike.
*
It is freeing to realize
I am not the main character,
Not in your story, not in a billion others.
But I am
The lead in mine,
In the hearts of those who truly care.
And even if I lose all the love,
I remain—
Intertwined with my own light,
Bound to be my own protagonist,
To pave my way.
*
I am content with not being seen by all.
I am only a small expanse,
But I see all of me.
And in my world, I take center stage.
*
So make yourself the center of your world,
No matter what they say.
You may not rule the world,
But at the very least,
Romanticize your being.
Fill yourself fully,
In the space you occupy.

Great job. I really appreciate the way you formatted this in clusters too! :)
The liberation from this poem especially these verses: "And for the first time, I saw— They weren’t looking at me. They were like me," Thanks for sharing this~
So true and you phrased it beautifully - something for all to take note of! Well done.
The shift from self-absorption to self-acceptance is so beautifully done. And that ending? A reminder to take up space in our own lives. Love it! ✨
So very true we never know do we what others feel inside ♦️♦️♦️♦️
The fifth stanza made my scalp tingle.
