The Social Prison

A poem of hope

By Sarah MoanaPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Ever feel like thing are not quite right

My darling it is because they're not

We hide beneath our fake facades

In hope we will be loved

Alone with our truest fears

Of the self we never become

Our truth becomes our sadness

And our falsehood our new home

Ever feel like things aren't quite right

My darling you're not alone

There's a interweaving of false beliefs

that society sets as norms

Freedom is a construct

That the social prison gives to us

Still trapped in serving the unseen man

Willfulness is a Must

Ever feel things aren't quite right

My darling don't lose hope

Beneath the pressures of the unseen man

There is a little loop

Don't go blindly through this life

Question all things you come across

Trust in your intuition

And set boundaries to not cross

Ever feel things aren't quite right

My darling let's make a plan

Stand up for whatever you believe in

Stand up to the unseen man

Make decisions that are yours

Stop being told what to think

For my darling your so much more

Then a mindless little sheep.
