The Snake in a Veil
An arranged marriage that was not meant to be

The Snake in a Veil
In a hushed hall, where vows were said,
A bride in white, a groom in dread.
Her smile shone bright, her words were sweet,
But shadows danced beneath her feet.
He brought her home with dreams in tow,
A future bright, a love to grow.
Yet beneath her charm, a hunger lay,
A serpent coiled in silk to prey.
Her gaze was sharp, her heart was cold,
Her whispers wrapped in threads of gold.
Not love she sought, but wealth to claim,
A cunning player in a ruthless game.
She counted coins, not moments shared,
Her eyes on the riches, she never cared.
For every kiss, a price she weighed,
And in her schemes, his trust betrayed.
But fate’s a hand with edges sharp,
A truth revealed can break the harp.
The groom, once blind, began to see,
The snake that hid from beneath loves the tree.
He cast her out, her veil undone,
Her poison faced the rising sun.
For love is pure, and greed’s a chain,
A bond like theirs could not sustain.
So let this tale a warning be,
True hearts can’t thrive in treachery.
For wealth may gleam, but true love is rare,
And snakes can’t thrive in the open air.
