The Sins of Distraction

Dithering the hours away on mindless minute detail, as

Intentions of productivity fall by the wayside, derailed

Shame creeps in with every detour and defection

Thoughts splinter and fly apart in a million directions,

Randomly scattered to the wind like useless dust

All dreams of improvement deferred, gone bust

Creativity runs dry and grinds to a standstill

Tasks of the day pile up, left to go unfulfilled

Impatient voices call for the results on which they depend

Obligations made and unmet, doomed to end in

Nothing worthwhile to show for the effort I expend
