The Simplicity of Love
our words combined

He wrote, apostle John,
“God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son.”
That was Me,
And now I see,
MY Words slip from memory.
Some take My Words,
The meanings they obscure
To fit their agenda,
To use in propaganda,
To serve their needs.
As do the dark forces
Kept in check by Saint Michael and
Apocalyptic horses.
If Christian you wish to be,
Then follow Christ, that’s Me.
My Message is simplicity,
Love God first and best.
The second is a true test:
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
With open hearts, open purses, and more,
Feed the hungry, Care for the poor;
Take in the stranger, My love will restore.
For whatsoever you do for the least of My brothers,
Be them mothers, fathers, sisters, or others,
That you do unto Me.

{This poem was initially intended for a Vocal Challenge. However, it took on its own life as I wrote. zooming past the 50 word limit. I entered another version, “Simplicity,” into the Love in 50 Words Vocal Poetry Challenge.)
