The Silent War

The Battle of Depression

By Cai FoxPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

A shadow rises with the dawn, unseen,

A weight that whispers, “You’ll never be free.”

It creeps in the quiet, it roars in the night,

Turning moments of peace into battles of might.

It wears a mask, a face you can’t place,

A friend, a foe, a haunting embrace.

It speaks in riddles, it lies in the dark,

Dousing the flames of a hopeful spark.

"You're not enough," its mantra, its creed,

A poison that plants an insidious seed.

Yet within your soul, a whisper replies,

"You’ve fought before, and still, you rise."

Through tear-streaked nights and days of gray,

You face this storm, come what may.

Each step forward, though heavy and slow,

Is a testament of strength only you can know.

For every tear, there’s a truth to claim,

For every hurt, a flicker of flame.

A quiet courage, a warrior unseen,

Battling shadows and what might have been.

Though it tells you, "Give in, just fall,"

You hear a voice, faint but tall:

“You are more than the darkness you fight,

You are the dawn, you are the breaking light.”

So hold the line, even when it’s unclear,

Though the war is silent, the victory is near.

For each breath taken, each moment survived,

Is proof you’re still here breathing and alive.
