The Silence That Loved Me Back

In the quiet, I found the echoes of love and everything I couldn’t say

By Emma Published 6 months ago 1 min read

I never knew silence could feel so heavy.

It sat between us like a stranger—uninvited,

yet impossible to push away.

I wanted to speak.

To tell you that my heart still remembers

the shape of your laughter,

the warmth of your presence.

But every time I opened my mouth,

the words turned to sand,

falling through the cracks of my courage.

People say time heals.

But time only teaches you

how to carry pain quietly.

It doesn’t erase the memory

of what once felt endless.

Sometimes, late at night,

I replay the moment we unraveled.

I wonder if I could have held on tighter,

spoken softer,

loved louder.

Would it have been enough?

Maybe love isn’t about forever.

Maybe it’s about the brief spark

that reminds us we are alive,

even if only for a moment.

And so I sit with silence,

not as an enemy,

but as the last piece of you

I still have.
