The Shadow

You release light

But retain darkness

Fear not of the dark

For he is your friend

He is the friend that reacts

But never responds

The friend that stays home

Instead of going out

Your darkness is struggling

He is afraid of the light

Not from yourself

But the light of others

He is nothing more than fear

He is negative emotions

He is anger and sadness

He is trying

The darkness inside you

Will start to take form

He will start to shield you

From bringing in anything new

He is the side of you that loves you

He is the side that knows mistreatment

He embodies all fears

He is the part of you that cares for you

He needs to be understood

He needs to be shown love

He needs assurance

He needs forgiveness

He’s never been shown love

He’s never been happy

He wants to change but doesn’t know how

He wants to become light

When you let the light into a dark room

You can see everything

But When you light up a well lit area

You barely notice it

Instead of only releasing light

Keep some inside you

And help your friend

For he is also a part of you

And he needs help from you.
