The Shadow Beside Me

A Dive Into Depression

A familiar feeling. Something primal and inexplicable. A stream of never-ending possibilities; if only I had taken that path, diverged in the yellow wood: would I have found something better?

A veil tossed over reality: a seeming grayness that can not be lifted. Drowning in a river of my own design, something that swallows me, plagues me, follows me wherever I go. I wonder about the nature of life, and whether its worth continuing to live. I carry on with my wayward sun, and hope beyond hope that peace will be done.

But he stalks me. He appears around quiet corners, almost from thin air. He whispers vulgarities, the likes of which I will not share. I wander down desolate streets, and know that he will be there. Always watching; always waiting; always giving me that stare.

Emotions run deep, deeper than the Mariana's trench. I have no choice but to dive below water and there is no surfacing from this depth. A trip back to the beach is like facing death: The water is here, and its here to stay. There is no hope that it will go away. This is an ocean that I must explore, a task given to me by Gods of yore. And so I swim, swim, swim away, and dive, dive, dive into the fray.

A Decent into the fabled dark: where I go, there are no marks. No presence of those that came before, or any sign that something will come after. A place that's familiar but afar: something that lingers amongst the stars. Another place that I must go, so that I may wreak what I have sowed. Another world to visit and sunder so that my mind may be quelled to slumber.

Another way to get them out: those Demons that continue to shout.
